Clinical Pilates Classes |
|
We currently run courses of Clinical Pilates for beginners and advanced students.
Class times are arranged to suit individual needs. The classes are for one hour and include no more than 4/5 people. The Class is supervised by a Physiotherapist, who is a qualified Pilates Instructor
The six week course costs £120 which we ask is to be paid before the programme starts.
A course includes, a half an hour assessment, which is done prior to the course, to design your programme, then six one hour classes doing mat work and band based Clinical Pilates.
|
| |
| The course is a progressive treatment programme whereby the difficulty and complexity of the exercises are built on each week so unfortunately for this reason places are non-refundable or transferable.
At week three you are given a band and instruction sheets to enable you to start doing your programme at home. The idea is that by the end of your course you have done ten Clinical Pilates sessions six in the clinic and four at home.
Once you have graduated from the course you will need to do a session of Pilates at home at least once every fortnight to maintain your progress and keep your symptoms under control.

Frequently Asked Questions
|
You can learn Pilates in large group classes at a local gym or leisure centre. However, for people with back pain it is more suitable to do Clinical Pilates, at a physiotherapy centre like - Stourbridge Physiotherapy Practice - where classes include no more than 4/5 people and are supervised by a Physiotherapist.
Exercising under the supervision of a physiotherapist means he/she will select exercises to suit your ability, and any pre-existing conditions you may have, so you have a programme tailored for you. A physiotherapist can also monitor your symptoms and give you advice.

Pilates focuses on building your body's core strength and improving your posture through a series of low repetition low impact stretching and conditioning exercises.
By core strength, we are talking about your back, abdominal and pelvic muscles. Through Pilates, you will be able to develop these muscles without adding bulk, increasing your flexibility and agility and at the same time toning your stomach, shoulder and thigh muscles. This is why Pilates helps to relieve spinal, hip and shoulder problems as greater efficiency in your postural muscles supports the joints more effectively in your day to day life.
Pilates goes far beyond your core muscles however and not only provides a complete body workout (you will be working muscles you didn't even know you had!), but also helps you develop an awareness of how your body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.
